Sharks Come Closer at Night

The photobook Sharks Come Closer At Night is a continuation of the work Trying To Be Turtles, a photographic film in which Lauranne explores the bonds she forms with the friends she makes during her first experience far from home. In this book, Lauranne creates a symbolic, almost sacred space that evokes the atmosphere of their evening walks. It is here that she and her friends find a safe place to share their struggles with the challenges of young adulthood and the complexities of femininity. Lauranne slows down time in these moments of vulnerability and intimacy, but amidst the silence, the sound of crashing waves and splashing water is always present in the background.
